PDA Beta Release
The BETA version
of the new standard WinScribe Pocket PC application is now available. This version
works with WinScribe 3.3.22 and above and allows authoring and reviewing of jobs
on a Pocket PC. Additionally there are advanced features such as "direct transcriptionist
routing" - a feature that will allow the Author to select/override the standard
WinScribe routing, sending work directly to any transcriptionist.
There are no license fees for this version.

availability is
concerned with the full functionality of a system (e.g finance or payroll) and
it's components. The
potential cause of these losses are called "THREATS". Don't

18 billion* e-mails were sent daily in 2003 and this figure is projected to double
by 2006. It is estimated that a typical knowledge worker spends up to 1/3 of their
day in e-mail and as e-mails become a greater part of daily business life, many

Virus vs Parasite It's not always
enough to have just one defence mechanism. What's the difference you ask? A
virus is a program designed to be spread with little to no input required by the
unsuspecting computer user.
Once infected, you now become the host spreading the disease.
Modern anti-virus programs are designed to detect these IF you keep the
definitions up to date. A
parasite (or spy ware) like it's namesake lives off another host but does not
spread in the same way as a virus. Ever had a computer with lots of browser popups?
It probably has a parasite. Anti-Virus software typically does not remove this
and while it is malicious it technically isn't a virus. Products like "Ad-Aware"
or "Spybot" will clean parasites and YES you do also need to
keep the definitions up to date as well. | |

Minter Ellison SA & NT 
Minter
Ellison SA/NT is the largest law firm in South Australia, and part of the Minter
Ellison Legal Group, the 13th largest legal organisation in the world. They

Dictation solution which would enhance their business practices between the 2

implementing WinScribe's network Digital Dictation solution, both Adelaide and
Darwin users are now able to share their workload and type dictation across both
states. This eliminated the need to employ temporary staff when their case load
increased as well as the need to hire temporary dictation and transcription hardware
thereby reducing overheads. With the implementation
of WinScribe and its ease of use, training the users only required a minimum of
15 minutes for authors to be completely up and running independently. With
various options of dictation hardware supplied, this also gave the lawyers of
Minter Ellison SA & NT the option to record using a tethered unit into their
workstation or a mobile unit allowing them to record anywhere, anytime. |

Stuart Ralph Stuart
commenced with Integrated Solutions in November as part of our Network Integration
team. He has been involved
in the support and management of IT systems with the Royal Australian Navy for
over 20 years and then as a System Integration Manager with Compucat Research,
where he was responsible for the integration and evaluation into SOE of various
security software and hardware devices. Stuart
is accredited with many industry certifications, including Microsoft MCSE 2000.
Stuart's main role with Integrated Solutions will be to increase IT security awareness
and implementation throughout Far North Queensland. | |

A jack of the loopback variety Have
you ever needed to quickly check a network cable for continuity? Locate which
switch port corresponds with a particular wall jack? If you answered "yes"
to either question then you need the Ethernet Loopback Jack.
It's a small RJ-45 modular plug like you'd find in a wall jack. Connect one end
of a network cable to a switch port and the other end to the loopback jack, and
if the RX/TX pairs in the cable are good you'll get a link light on the switch. You
can also take the loopback jack to a wall outlet and when it's connected the corresponding
link light on the switch will come on. This allows you to easily match-up a wall
jack with a switch port back in the server room.

| The
staff at I.S got more than we bargained for during a weekend away at Dunk Island
for our Christmas party.
Ta Ly, John Lizzio, Stuart and Melinda Ralph all enjoyed an early morning horse
ride along the beach. Ta was firmly in the saddle tightly gripping the reins,
but not in control...her tiny frame was no match for the 980 pound horse called
Sonny. He wanted food! Ta's short rein wasn't strong enough to stop Sony eating
breakfast. When Sonny reached his head down to tear out a mouthful of long grass,
Ta got pulled flat onto his mane time after time. The rest of us were having trouble
staying on our mounts because of the uncontrolable laughter. Our
horses were called Mr Brown, Sonny, Bandit and Farmer and each had a personality
that matched their names perfectly. e.g When we got into the ocean, Bandit didn't
hesitate to walk over to Ta & stomp over & over in the water leaving her
soaking wet in disbelief!! Going
horse riding raised more questions than were answered...Do horses talk with their
ears? Have you seen how a horse can spin each ear around independently or flatten
them back when going into a trot? We also couldn't help but notice some other
cool habits, like passing wind in time with a trot (& some others we just
won't mention here!). | All
in all, everyone had a great weekend on Dunk Island and an enjoyable, relaxing
time away.
